TRIO Scholars Program
The purpose of the TRIO Scholars Program is to help students
realize their full potential in relation to their academic
pursuits at Indiana Wesleyan University. Benefits to TRIO
Scholars include academic and cultural enrichment, disability
services, mentoring, personal counseling, tutorial support,
and the opportunity to apply for grant aid.
Eligibility for the TRIO
Scholars Program requires an IWU student be identified
as one of three populations:
- First generation -
neither parent has received a 4-year college degree;
- Low income -
family income may be found in the Low-Income Levels
published yearly by the Dept. of Education; Click
here to see the low-income chart.
- Disabled individuals
- you have a documented physical or learning
disability.
If you meet one or more of these criteria and are interested
in making application, click on Forms and select TRIO
Scholars Application, or contact The Aldersgate Center
(Student Center 220 or call 765-677-2257).
The Higher Education Act of 1965 was enacted to assist
students in their pursuit of college degrees. Title
IV of this act created three distinctive programs, coined
“TRIO” programs, to assist in removing invisible
barriers for individuals in these populations.
