Reed Hall
With a spacious lawn area, large oak trees, and its own 18-foot gazebo, Reed offers a beautiful exterior and setting for its 206 male residents. Still, if you spend any time at the Hall, you'll quickly discover that it's what's inside that really counts.
Each year, Reed Hall is home to about as many freshmen as Bowman Hall along with a large population of sophomores, a sprinkling of juniors and seniors. With this exciting mix of incoming and returning students, residence life at Reed has both exciting and stimulating. All-hall activities help to keep this spirit alive, honoring one another, spiritual fervor, and brotherly love.
Setting the tone for life at Reed is its live-in Resident Director (RD) and leadership team (centurions and Legati) which is "modeled" on a Roman Legion. These enthusiastic upperclassmen strive to direct the Hall by modeling the behavior of Christ while emphasizing the development of men of God. Along with small group leaders on each unit, they offer weekly Bible studies and make themselves available to the Legionaries (residents) for discussion, mentoring, and assistance.
Open since the fall of 1999, Reed Hall has all the comforts that IWU students have come to expect and appreciate. There are no community bathrooms because Reed is arranged in suites, with a shared bathroom connecting each pair of rooms. Like Evans, Hodson, and New Hall, Reed offers living spaces resembling an "S" shape, with two distinct sides to every room.* This lets roommates decide whether they'll keep their belongings separate or combine them to create a bedroom on one side and a living area on the other side. Two men live in each room (four in each suite.)
All rooms in Reed are furnished and carpeted, with individualized heating and air conditioning controls. Other conveniences include laundry facilities on each unit, high-speed Internet access for every resident and optional cable TV connections. Just off Reed's lobby, there's a computer room, a kitchen area, a chapel, a common room for group activities, large TV lounge, and a front desk with a mini-store that offers snack foods for purchase.
An IWU Namesake
