The Lodges

Hall Links
Residence Life

The Lodges, brand new in the fall of 2005, are three innovative upperclassmen residence halls on the east side of campus. Designed to provide independence along with community living, each Lodge houses 80 juniors or seniors utilizing either four-person or six-person apartments. The Lodges house a grand total of 160 female upperclassmen and 80 male upperclassmen residents. Students who live in the Lodges enjoy the freedom of apartment-style facilities along with the benefits of residence life. Because the Lodges have common study areas and cozy lobbies, there are plenty of opportunities for students to interact with their unit neighbors. This allows for a distinct sense of community for upperclassmen.

Like all on-campus housing at IWU, the Lodges have a live-in leadership staff that plans activities, hosts special events, and promotes spiritual development for residents. These leaders include one Resident Director (RD), two Assistant Resident Directors (ARD), 14 Resident Assistants (RA), two hall chaplains, two events coordinators, two outreach coordinators, and a diversity coordinator. Each year the Lodges are given the opportunity to have a picnic at IWU’s President’s Home (their next-door neighbor). The Lodges also annually host various cookouts, a fall lawn party, outreach parties for a local community youth outreach center, a Super Bowl party, and other fun and educational activities.

Every apartment in the Lodges has its own kitchen, living room, bathrooms, and walk-in closets in the bedrooms. Rooms are fully carpeted and furnished, featuring high-speed Internet access, optional cable TV connections, and individual heating and cooling controls. Every Lodge lobby has a large TV and gathering area, a large balcony overhang, a fireplace, and a kitchen. But perhaps the most unique elements of décor are the large moose heads that hang near each Lodge entrance, adding a rugged, mountain-style feeling to the facilities. Just outside the Lodges is a gazebo and grill area for students’ use and enjoyment.
