In the Microbiology Lab, nursing, pre-med, and biology students are introduced to various procedures
including cell culturing, media preparation/use, microscopic identification, biochemical culture testing,
and sterile technique. Like the other labs in Burns Hall, the Microbiology Lab is stocked with new equipment,
including state-of-the-art air handling in Class II Bio-safety cabinets and the Phoenix Air Exchange
System for the safe handling of cell, tissue, and microorganism cultures. Up-to-date sterilization and
incubation equipment is also used in prepping the living materials that are used in Microbiology, Molecular
Biology, and Immunology.
