Noggle Christian Ministry Center

On the northeast corner of IWU's campus is Noggle Christian Ministry Center (Noggle CMC.) Its unique Christian spire is topped with a stainless steel cross reaching seventy-five feet above campus grounds. This feature makes Noggle CMC the tallest structure on campus and also functions as IWU's most distinctive landmark-even topping an "I" in the university logo.

Among classrooms and offices, Noggle CMC also has several unique features:

The Hall of Heroes of the Faith serves as Noggle's central lobby area. Lining the walls of the Hall are portraits of ministers, missionaries, and laypeople who have influenced Wesleyan roots in the Wesleyan Methodist and Pilgrim Holiness Churches. With several couches, tables, and chairs, the Hall is a popular gathering area for students and professors alike.

Revelation is a 22' by 8' painting that hangs above the main lobby just inside the entrance of Noggle. Painted in its current location by artist-in-residence and IWU professor Rod Crossman, it took nearly nine months to complete. Mr. Crossman's inspiration for the painting was the spiritual battle fought in the heavenly realms, as described in the book of Revelation.

Carter Chapel is one of the most popular meeting areas on campus. Boasting attractive design, stained glass windows, and comfortable seating for 260, it is often used for worship, celebrations, special ceremonies, and large group gatherings.

Completed in 1984, Noggle CMC houses the Division of Religion and Philosophy.

IWU Namesakes:

Carter Chapel is named in honor of the late Dr. Charles and Elizabeth Carter. Dr. Carter joined the university faculty in 1946, contributing expertise and experience in both philosophy and missions.

Noggle CMC is named in honor of Howard and the late Marie Noggle, university alumni and benefactors. They were married in the new "College Church" in 1941, during Marie's senior year at IWU. Before their marriage was approved by the then-university president Dr. William F. McConn, Marie had to promise him she would complete her education. Both Marie and Howard worked at the university long after their graduation-Marie in the library and Howard "Mr. Marion College" as a field representative, Director of Alumni, and then Special Assistant to the President.
