Will I need to test?
Incoming first-time freshmen participate in specialized testing to determine their skills and abilities in mathematics and critical reading, two areas essential to college and life success. All students will take the Math COMPASS test. The critical reading test is taken on a selective basis pursuant to a student’s SAT/ACT score.
Do I need to take the Foreign Language Placement Test?
If you have no previous experience in the language to be studied and your are planning to register for a Beginning I section of that language you are not required to take the Foreign Language Placement Test.
If you are a student who will be transferring French or Spanish course(s) from another institution you are not required to take the Foreign Language Placement Test.
If you have taken French or Spanish at the high school level and you are planning to take a French or Spanish course at IWU you are required to take the Foreign Language Placement Test before registering for a French or Spanish course. We recommend that you take this test prior to your registration day. The test is found at http://webcape.byuhtrsc.org/?acct=indwes and only takes about 15 minutes to complete. The password for the Foreign Language Placement Test is marion1. Be sure to type the password in lower case as the password is case sensitive. Please print the results page and bring it with you for your advising session on your registration day.
If you have questions regarding the Foreign Language Placement Test, please contact Prof. Andrea Lemire at andrea.lemire@indwes.edu or Dr. Mary Brown at mary.brown@indwes.edu. |
