Faculty Strengths
The faculty members of the Division of Social Sciences are committed to maintain the high standard established by Dr. Allen Bowman and other division faculty before them. Division majors will experience first hand the legacy that continues to be reflected in the Christian commitment, teaching effectiveness and professional and community service of today’s Division of Social Sciences faculty.
- Social science faculty members are notable for their vision, dedication and commitment to the students.
- Faculty members are uniquely qualified by their various academic specialties and interests. One is extremely knowledgeable relative to European and world history, while another is known for being on the cutting edge of computer technology and its usefulness in the classroom.
- Faculty members are well-traveled. One regularly conducts an informative travel course to Washington D.C., Europe and other historical locations. Another has lectured extensively nationally and internationally for more than 20 years, attracting many students to IWU.
- Each faculty member understands the importance of personalized education. They will make every effort to become acquainted with each student in order to encourage and assist them during and even after their years at IWU.
- Faculty members are active in local churches (Sunday School teacher, superintendent, deacon, choir member, usher, worship leader, etc.).
- Faculty members have regularly traveled off-campus to lecture locally, nationally and internationally to teen and collegiate conferences, camps, schools and other colleges and universities.
- Faculty members frequent churches in the U.S. and abroad, to give presentations, sermons, workshops and lecture series.
- Faculty members give presentations to civic, business, service and professional organizations on topics such as international political realities, economics, evangelism, domestic politics, the sanctity of human life, Christian education and communications and the media.
- The inspirational lectures and presentations on the biblical Christian worldview composed by faculty members have led to the founding of schools and universities in other nations, curriculum-writing for home schools, the launching of periodicals and other world-changing endeavors.
