Distinctives
The distinctives of the Division of Social Sciences include
the following:
- April 4, 2005 Spring Bowman Lecture Series materials
- a double major system which allows students to earn two majors in order to maximize their preparation and marketability. History, political science and economics are often selected as companion majors.
- a committed faculty determined to maintain high standards of Christian scholarship and service.
- a low faculty/student ratio in upper division courses allowing students a high level of personal attention from faculty.
- committed students who are known for their high level of commitment to the Lord and to scholarship. Most graduate with honors; many qualify for the social science honor society.
- experience-oriented courses, including tours of Europe or Washington, D.C. and practicum experience in politics, law, community service and government.
- a focus on leadership which encourages students to assume positions of leadership on campus or in the local community where various student activities are available.
- a biannual lecture series in which reputable social science scholars and professionals present stimulating lectures on campus.
