Dr. Stephen Pettis

Dr. Stephen Pettis (steve.pettis@indwes.edu) served as a Nazarene missionary for 6 years in Bermuda, Portugal and the Azores. He was involved in church planting, writing and directing the development of pastoral training materials, and teaching pastoral development courses. He also pastured for 6 years on the Southern California District of the Church of the Nazarene.
Dr. Pettis holds a M.Div. from Nazarene Theological Seminary and a Th.M. from the School of Intercultural Studies of Fuller Theological Seminary where he received awards in Anthropology, Folk Religion and Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. He also received his Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Seminary. Dr. Pettis has published in the Portuguese journal Encruzadas and contributed to the book Mission in Acts (Orbis 2004).
Dr. Pettis has been married to Sheila since 1970. They have 2 sons and a daughter. When opportunity presents itself Steve enjoys gardening and travel.
