Norman Wilson
Dr. Norman G. Wilson (norman.wilson@indwes.edu) pastored for 6 years in Indianapolis (1974-80) before serving as a Wesleyan missionary for 15 years in Latin America where he was involved in ministerial education and mission administration. In Peru (1981-89) his responsibilities included service as professor and Director of Wesleyan Biblical Seminary (1981-87) and church planting in Lima (1988-89). In Puerto Rico his responsibilities included service as professor (1991-95) and Academic Dean of Wesleyan Theological College (1992-95), President of the Wesleyan Academy Board of Governors (1992-95), and Mission Field Director (1992-95). Afterward, he served for 10 years in administrative roles in North America, with Houghton College as Director of the Program for Accelerating College Education (1995-98), with the General Department of Wesleyan World Missions (Global Partners) as Director of International Ministries (1998-2004), and with the General Department of Evangelism and Church Growth as Director of Church Development (2004-05).
Dr. Wilson holds two master’s degrees, a M.Div. (1978), and a S.T.M magna cum laude (1985) with a focus on early and medieval church history, both from Christian Theological Seminary. In 1993 he received a Ph.D. in educational studies with a focus on curriculum and instructional theory from Trinity International University, where he was named to Who’s Who Among Students in America, 1990.
He has written numerous articles on missions’ theory and practice and compassionate evangelism that have appeared in Wesleyan Church publications and elsewhere. In addition, he has articles published in the Christian Education Journal, The Preacher’s Magazine, and the Evangelical Dictionary of Christian Education.
Norman is married to Kimberlee J. Wilson since 1973. They have four children, three who are now graduates of Indiana Wesleyan University. Fluent in Spanish, Norman and Kim are active in their local church, called Iglesia Wesleyana Amistad Cristiana, in Carmel, Indiana. In addition, Norman finds time to read and write, interact with Latino friends, enjoy broadcasts and videos in French, and play basketball several times each week.
