Mathematics


If you want to be academically challenged, enhance your critical thinking skills and have fantastic career opportunities, consider math at IWU. One study showed that four of the six most highly rated occupations involve mathematics or computer-related fields. In today’s world, mathematics is used to solve practical and abstract problems in government, business, science and engineering. A mathematics major or minor gives additional value to any other major such as business, computer science and computer information systems.

Purpose

The mission of the mathematics program is to academically and spiritually prepare students of mathematics for careers in public and private sectors, graduate study or research. This preparation will be accomplished by providing a Christian liberal arts curriculum incorporating a solid foundation in mathematics; technical and computer skills; critical thinking and problem solving in logical and valid manners; and the development of a multidisciplinary approach in integrating faith, learning and serving others.
