Biography
Dr. Marc Wooldridge serves as Director of Percussion Activities at Indiana Wesleyan University in addition to teaching courses in music theory and composition. He has performed and presented for a variety of notable organizations such as the Lincoln Center Institute, the Percussion Arts Society, and the Charles Ives Center for New Music. He was a founding member of the Maelstrom Percussion Ensemble, a group whose artistic excellence was recognized through a prestigious three-year Residency Grant from Chamber Music America. His solo touring recital—Journeys: Multimedia Percussion—combines live percussion with recorded electronic sounds, visual art and film. This innovative program has been presented at colleges, high schools, and PAS Day of Percussion events throughout the US. As a composer, Dr. Wooldridge has written thirteen works for percussion including Diamond Hill, a marimba duo published by Honey Rock. In 2003, he began a commissioning project that has enabled him to premiere eight solo percussion works and two marimba concerti. Wooldridge was selected for inclusion on the touring rosters of the Mid-American Arts Alliance and the Iowa Arts Council and has served as Percussionist and Assistant Timpanist with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. He also served for five years as President of the Iowa Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society during which time he hosted two statewide percussion festivals. Wooldridge also serves as a member of the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers and is active as a board member with the Iowa Composers Forum.
