Tammie Huntington, Soprano, is an Assistant Professor of Music at Indiana Wesleyan University where she teaches Vocal Pedagogy, Opera Workshop and Opera Theatre in addition to Applied Voice.  Huntington holds a Doctor of Arts degree in Voice Performance with Opera/Opera Direction emphases from Ball State University, where she produced and directed the world premiere of Fifty-Third Street, a new American opera by composer Jody Nagel. She presented her research on Fifty-Third Street at the 2009 International Congress of Voice Teachers in Paris, France and at the 2009 Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities.  She holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from BSU, and a bachelor’s degree from Grace College in Applied Voice and Music Education. Huntington’s opera/operetta performances have included the roles of Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Despina in scenes from Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Josephine in Gilbert & Sullivan´s H.M.S. Pinafore (concert version), Mother/Fairy in Caraher’s Jack and the Beanstalk, Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Laetitia in scenes from Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, and Adele in scenes from Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. Huntington has also appeared as Guest Soprano Soloist in orchestral productions of Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bach’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, and Schubert’s Mass in G Major, No. 2. She has participated in masterclasses with Shirlee Emmons, John Wustman, Mary Henderson Stucky, Dr.Fiora Contino, Jaque Trussel, and Stephen Schnurman, and has sung under the batons of conductors Alexander Platt, Patrick Kavanaugh, Kirk Trevor, Tomasz Golka, Leonard Atherton, Wishart Bell, Keith Brion, and Ardis Faber. Huntington has performed in recitals, oratorio and opera within northern and central Indiana and with the Masterworks Festival Opera Company. She sang the premiere of an original serial composition, Drei Lieder, by Doug Harbin in the 2005 College Music Society Great Lakes Conference, and also performed in the 2008 Fellowship of Christian Art Music Composers National Conference.
