major and minor, and the
teaching endorsement in Spanish. Beginning, intermediate and advanced topics courses in French are offered.
Foreign languages play an important part in college education,
not only are they important as an academic study, but they
open a window to other cultures and offer us invaluable insights
into the way we communicate.
Foreign language courses at Indiana Wesleyan University stretch
beyond topics such as vocabulary and grammar to cover idioms,
cultural context, literature, current events, and even humor.
Students are offered opportunities to converse with native
speakers through numerous study programs, special speakers
and trips to an area Spanish-speaking church. They are also
encouraged to read books and periodicals in the language they
are studying, as well as watch TV programs and movies.
Facilities
The Foreign Language Department at IWU is continually developing
its facilities to serve foreign language students. The language
laboratory offers computers, books and tudors to assist students studying Spanish and French.
