Recreation
The mission of the recreation major at IWU is to develop socially acceptable uses of leisure time and recreation activities that will positively impact individuals through improved health, better relationships and improved performance in the workplace. In essence, the goal is to improve each community's quality of life. Recreation studies educate students to become administrators, entrepreneurs, educators, therapists and coordinators.
Therapeutic recreation is an expanding area of expertise utilized in hospitals, nursing homes and mental health centers. IWU's program prepares students for the Therapeutic Recreation Services Exam and employment in community and clinical settings.
