Practicums and Internships
In each of the Division of Health, Kinesiology, Recreation and Sports Studies majors, a practicum/internship requirement exists. The goal of these professional experiences is to introduce the major to practicing professionals and their respective organizations. These experiences give the students a first-hand look at their future professional occupations. Not only are their skills and knowledge enhanced but they also have the opportunity to confirm or modify their career goals. Students are given the opportunity to play a servant leadership role within the organization they are involved. The hours of involvement vary among the majors as assignments and accreditation requirements may vary. IWU's Athletic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
Placements are negotiable between the professor, student and the organization being served. Previous placements at IWU have been:
