Adam Thompson - Director of Athletic Training Program

Adam received his undergraduate athletic training degree at Anderson University in Anderson, IN. He received his Masters of Science in athletic training from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. His doctorate degree is from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN, in Health Care Administration. Adam loves to participate in recreational sports and spending time with his family, Stacy, Jack, Kate, and Charlie.

Mary Jacobs - Head Athletic Trainer

Mary received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology / Athletic Training from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She then continued her education at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, and received her Master of Arts in Physical Education / Athletic Training. She enjoys watching sports, spending time with her friends and family, and spoiling her niece and nephew.


R. Nathaniel Foster - Associate Athletic Trainer

Nate is a 2000 graduate of the Indiana Wesleyan University’s Athletic Training Education Program. He received his Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from Ohio University in 2001. Currently, Nate is attending Capella University enrolled in the Psychology PhD program with an emphasis in Sport Psychology. In addition to participating in and watching athletics, he is an avid outdoor sportsman involved in hunting, hiking, and camping. He resides in Swayzee with his wife Erin, two sons Ian and Caedmon, and daughter Rowen.


Andrew T. Doyle - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Andrew T. Doyle, a 2005 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University’s Athletic Training Education Program, is thrilled to be coming back to his alma mater as the Assistant Athletic Trainer. Prior to accepting this position, Mr. Doyle earned his Master’s degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. While there, he held the position of Head Athletic Trainer at Gull Lake High School.

During his tenure at WMU and Gull Lake, he researched the use of dexamethasone iontophoresis. His research titled The Effects of Dexamethasone Iontophoresis on an Acute Muscle Injury of the Biceps Brachii was showcased this June at the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Annual Clinical Symposium held in Anaheim, CA. His abstract can be found in the Journal of Athletic Training, Vol. 42, #2 Supplement. He also received the Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award for District 4 in Anaheim.

Mr. Doyle and his wife Jill, also an IWU alumnus, are proud to be part of the IWU family once again. They will be residing in Marion, IN. Andrew looks forward to the new challenges ahead and hopes to become an integral part of Indiana Wesleyan University’s Athletic Training Education Program.


Jessica Keller - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Jessica came to Indiana Wesleyan from Central Indiana Orthopedics in Anderson, Indiana where she spent 5 years as a Physician Extender for Dr. Jared Jones, and Head Athletic Trainer for Lapel High School.

She is a 2001 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan where she earned a BS in Athletic Training.

Jessica enjoys watching sports, spending time with family and friends, and hanging out with her nephew, Ian and niece, Mia.


Jeremy J. Hunt, MD - IWU Team Physician and Medical Director

Dr. Hunt is a primary care sports medicine physician.

His undergraduate degree was earned at Ball State University. He earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his Family Practice residency from Ball Memorial Hospital. After his residency he completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship from Ball Memorial Hospital Sports Medicine Program. Dr. Hunt is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is CAQ certified in Sports Medicine.


Marshall L. Trusler, MD – IWU Orthopaedic Consultant

Dr. Trusler is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in injuries and disorders associated with the Shoulder and Knee.

Dr. Trusler earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University. He attended medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed an internship at the Indiana University Medical Center. His orthopaedic training was at Indiana University Medical Center. Dr. Trusler received his fellowship training in Sports Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After completing his fellowship in 2000, he began his practice in Noblesville, Indiana and joined Central Indiana Orthopedics in 2007. Dr. Trusler is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
