American Studies Program – "Discover how Washington really works, with projects in public affairs, field research on pressing issues, rubbing shoulders with Washington experts and using policy concepts to analyze contending approaches. Located in Washington, D.C."
Australia Studies Center - "New Zealand. Australia. The Outback! This program is a cultural studies program with an arts focus. Designed to give undergraduates of all majors and career interests with the opportunity to study the arts and theology in Sydney, the program also emphasizes indigenous studies and faithful, global involvement."
China Studies Program - "From ancient dynasties to Marco Polo's journey down the Silk Road; from modern commercial centers to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China is constantly changing. This program enables students to view China from the inside to experience its culture and diversities. Two different concentrations are available: China Studies and Business."
Contemporary Music Center - "This study program provides a community for young musicians, engineers and aspiring music executives to plumb the depths of their creative souls and test the waters of a career in popular music. Designed as an artists' community (located on Martha's Vineyard), the program seeks to develop artists, technicians, and music executives with a Christ-centered vision for music content, production and delivery."
Latin American Studies Program - "This study program includes travel through Central American nations to experience firsthand the diversity of cultures and peoples of Latin America. Students will live with host families, and improve their Spanish. They become equipped to critically examine and respond to global challenges. Four concentrations: Latin American Studies (fall and spring semesters); Advanced Language and Literature (fall and spring semesters); International Business (fall semester only); Environmental Science (spring semester only)."
Los Angeles Film Studies Program - " Hollywood. An epicenter for the formation of American popular culture and the port of departure from which this culture is exported to the world. Hollywood is a place to be explored, engaged and critiqued: as a city, an industry and a calling. Located in one of the primary film and television production centers in L.A. and utilizing state of the art camera and editing equipment, this program is designed to integrate a Christian world view with an introductory exploration of the work and workings of mainstream Hollywood entertainment."
Middle East Studies Program - – "While seeing and touching thousands of years of history at ancient sites like the Sphinx, Old Cairo, Jerusalem or the street called "Straight" in Damascus, students in this program prepare to live the Christian life in a world that is religiously and culturally pluralistic and are equipped to relate to the Muslim world in an informed, constructive and Christ-centered manner. Students are exposed to the diversity of the region through travel to Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Turkey."
Scholars Semester in Oxford - "Read, learn and live in the "City of Dreaming Spires." This program allows you to do intensive scholarship in the historic seat of learning at Oxford University. Oxford is an ancient city brimming with modern people. The Oxford system is renowned for its tutorial style of learning, and students can concentrate on the Classics, English & Literature, Theology & Religious Studies, Philosophy, or History (though all majors may apply). Applicants are generally honors and other high-achieving students."
Russian Studies Program - "Breathe in the incense that hangs in the air of every Orthodox church. Savor rich, creamy borsht. Feel the rumble of Moscow's subway trains. This program is designed to study the culture, language and history of Russia and deepen cross-cultural understanding while seeking to prepare student to live out their faith in a multinational and culturally diverse world."
Washington Journalism Center - "What is truth? Who decides? The source or the reader? The writer or the editor? Can PR be true? Can journalists turn into speechwriters? Where do you fit into all this? This program is an advanced, experiential semester on Capitol Hill that will cultivate professional news skills and encourage students to think through the implications of being a Christian working in the news media in a city that home to the powerful and the powerless."
Uganda Studies Program -"This program offers two different emphases, but both experience East Africa. You will broaden your view of your responsibilities as a global Christian citizen and explore a Biblical response to poverty and injustice. You will learn to appreciate African culture while studying African literature, history and politics. The trips throughout Uganda and Rwanda will broaden your depth of learning about East Africa."

"This program is located in Jerusalem, Israel, and introduces student to the culture and religions of the area, especially Judaism, Islam and the variety of Christian traditions. Students gain a better understanding of the interplay of ideologies and customs in the Middle Eastern historical, political, and social relationships. Students also gain an understanding of biblical studies, esepcially the Old Testament Scriptures, the roots of the New Testament in the Old Testament, and the Greco-Roman-Judean world of the first century."

Australia - "Students will take a seven-hour core in Australian studies, and be able to choose from other options including literature, religion, and physical education classes. Located in Melbourne, the program will have access to Kingsley College facilities."

Tanzania - "An intensive 12 week semester offering the unique opportunity to experience life as most Africans themselves experience it, to be exposed to Africa on a broad front including history, anthropology, environment, languages, politics, and religion. Students should be prepared for rugged conditions. Includes trips to game reserves and tribal villages."
Adirondack Park - "Students in this program will witness the continuing debate over wilderness and sustainable development, with an introducation to environmental studies which takes place in a 6-million-acre eco-region and the largest temperate-deciduous forest in the world. Students work in a living laboratory, with over 2,000 lakes and over 30,000 miles of streams and rivers. Faculty and environmental professionals will provide field lectures and an interdisciplinerary experience. As a compliment to the Adirondacks, students will spend two weeks in Alaska.

Academic options include English, Bible, History, Social Sciences, and Art. Different options and combinations are offered each semester, taught by Houghton College professors.
