FACULTY

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

Romans 12:2 New Living Version

The statement above, written by the Apostle Paul, provides the framework upon which the core beliefs of the Division of Education of Indiana Wesleyan University are constructed. These beliefs, though generated from a diverse thinking faculty, find their agreement in the understanding of transformative thought. We believe that the wisdom of this world must be filtered through the paradigmatic sieve of God’s ultimate truth, or what C.S. Lewis (1947) called "first platitudes." As we guide our students toward the goal of becoming reflective practicing educators, we believe that, in addition to demonstrating proficiency in the craft of teaching, we must also encourage them to submit to the transformation of their thinking by God. This transformation initiates a vision of their profession as opportunities to minister for God.
