Special Events
When today’s college students were born, progressive businesses prepared long-range business plans that looked out ten years into the future and a short-range plan that focused on the next three. Today, no intelligent business person would dare project with any certainty what commerce will look like one year ahead, let alone three or ten years in the future. Change is inevitable.
One thing is certain in today’s world economy: for a business to thrive or even survive, it must be able to correctly read its business environment and make the necessary changes. The market is unforgiving.
The business practices in place when a student graduates will be quite different than what they were four years prior when the student was a freshman. In addition to providing students with a well-rounded business education, the Division of Business brings in guest speakers, offers travel opportunities, and encourages students to pursue internship opportunities.
Guest Speakers
The Division of Business faculty brings guest speakers having a wide variety of professional experiences to campus to speak to students, inside and outside of the classroom. Past guest speakers have included:
Mary Hunt—Author of Debt Free Living
Dr. Richard Chewning—Professor and expert in Christian business ethics
Michael Ramsden—European director of the Zacharias Trust
Travel Opportunities
International Business Trip
Local and international travel opportunities are offered to interested students, so they can experience first-hand what it takes to succeed in a world economy. Dr. Phil Millage has taken groups of students to Europe and Ireland, and Dr. Harriet Rojas has taken students to Peru during May term to study international business.
